SUMMARY:Rotary International’s Global Mental Health Initiative.
DESCRIPTION:On November 5\, 2025\, at 12 Noon via Zoom\, Rudy Hayek\, LMFT\, Rotary District 5300 Mental Health & Wellness Co-chair\, will present on Rotary International's Global Mental Health Initiative.\n\n \n\nRudy Hayek is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Relationship Coach. He is the Immediate Past President of the Rotary Club of Glendora\, Area 4 Governor\, and Co-Chair of District 5300's Mental Health & Wellness Committee. Since 2023\, he and his committee have been developing a platform to support Rotarians and their clubs in recognizing and addressing potential mental health challenges within their clubs and communities.\n\n \n\nHe is very excited to share the current status and stance of the Committee\, as well as provide suggestions and call-to-action items that can help our club improve Connection\, Communication\, and Cohesiveness.\n\n \n\nIn 2022\, under the leadership of Past Rotary International President Gordon McInally\, Rotary International launched a global initiative to encourage Rotary clubs worldwide to focus on mental health. McInally called on all Rotarians to directly address the mental health crisis by recognizing that grief\, stress\, anxiety\, depression\, and burnout affect Rotarians as well as those they serve.\n\n \n\nThree Areas of Focus:\n\n	Destigmatization: Promoting openness and reducing stigma associated with mental health challenges.\n	Awareness and Attention: Increasing recognition and understanding of mental health issues.\n	Access and Resources: Expanding support and resources for those in need.\n\n \n\nRotary's motto\, "Service Above Self\," inspires service to others yet this initiative reminds \n\nRotarians that self-care is essential to sustain service. Rotarians are encouraged to maintain balance through physical health\, emotional support\, and meaningful social interaction\, while also supporting one another within their clubs.\n\n \n\nDistrict 5300's Mental Health & Wellness Committee supports these efforts across 55 clubs in California and Nevada. The committee promotes stronger relationships\, renewed connection\, and compassion among members. It encourages Rotarians to check in with one another and create environments where every member feels heard\, appreciated\, and supported.\n\n \n\nRotary District 5300 continues to provide tools\, educational materials\, and creative ways to strengthen fellowship and wellness within Rotary clubs and their communities.\n\n \n\nEmail SanDimasRotary@gmail.com for the Zoom link.
