Food Drive to Support Enlisted Marine Corps Families at 29 Palms Marine Corps Base
When you think about the challenges our military families face, food insecurity does not frequently come to mind, however it is very real. Often times, some military families, particularly those of enlisted personnel, find themselves struggling between pay periods making it difficult to stretch every dollar. Indeed, over 22,000 active-duty military families, 213,000 National Guard/Reservist families and 1.2 million Veterans suffer from food insecurity.
To ensure our military families at 29 Palms Marine Corps Base never go hungry, the Armed Services YMCA offers a free food pantry, where active-duty military families are welcome to browse and select from pantry staples and hygiene products.
A food drive to resupply the pantry at 29 Palms Marine Corps based has been organized by the Satellite Rotary Club of Military Family support. The Satellite Club has partnered in organizing this event with the Rotary Club of San Dimas, the San Dimas Masonic Lodge and American Legion Star Post No. 309.
Monetary donations are also welcome. Checks can be made out to the Rotary Club of San Dimas (mark USMC in the memo). Send donations to PO Box 713, San Dimas, CA, 91773.
