Foothill Gold Line Update: News Following Substantial Completion

Last Friday, the 9.1-mile, four-station Glendora to Pomona project reached a major milestone when the project achieved substantial completion on time and on budget. As I explained on Friday, reaching substantial completion means that the Glendora to Pomona project is now ready to be turned over to Metro for final testing, training and preparation for passenger service, among other tasks; and follows determination after months of testing of the new systems that the new extension is safe to operate. As of today, the Construction Authority has begun the transition process to Metro and we expect Metro to get underway with their efforts in the weeks ahead.

Over the weekend and today, there have been several news stories about the project’s milestone achievement. In case you missed the San Gabriel Valley Tribune story, it is below; and here are links to a KNX interview and stories in Metro Magazine, MSNProgressive Railroading and Urbanize LA and Railway Technology.

The Journey Continues,
