Foothill Gold Line Update: Thousands Come Out to Celebrate Glendora to Pomona Opening
On Friday, thousands of people came out to enjoy the opening day events as the Glendora to Pomona project began passenger service. The historic day was filled with celebration, including the first official ride from the Glendora Station to the Pomona Station, an opening day ceremony that included remarks by members of the Construction Authority and Metro boards and staff (including Construction Authority board chair, Claremont Council Member Ed Reece and Construction Authority and Metro board member, Pomona Mayor Tim Sandoval), and community events at each station that lasted long into the afternoon.
Many from the Construction Authority board and staff attended the events, as well as members from the KPJV team. Shown below are some of the moments captured during the day:

I want to thank the Foothill Gold Line team and Metro staff for their efforts over the past several months to ready the project for passenger service, as well as the Metro board and staff for organizing a truly memorable opening day for all to enjoy.
In case you missed it, below is the article that ran in the Southern California News Group papers over the weekend about the opening day; and here are links to other coverage of the day’s historic milestone: ABC 7, KTLA 5, NBC 4, CBS 2/KCAL 9, FOX 11, Spectrum News 1, Los Angeles Times, LAist, Claremont Courier, KCRW, KFI AM 640, Pasadena Now, South Pasadena Review, Streetsblog Los Angeles, Urbanize and University of La Verne Campus Times.
